ABOUT OUR PHILANTHROPY

Arthritis

Alpha Omicron Pi’s international philanthropy is arthritis, and our philanthropy partner is the Arthritis Foundation. Since 1967, members and chapters have raised millions of dollars to fund research, provide resources, and support those affected by arthritis, a disease that disproportionately impacts women and also affects children.

AOII’s philanthropy dollars support several impactful Arthritis Foundation initiatives, including the Juvenile Arthritis Power Pack program, Juvenile Arthritis Camps, the Juvenile Arthritis Family Summit, and the 24/7 Helpline. Our Canadian sisters proudly support The Arthritis Society of Canada, furthering our shared mission to fight arthritis and improve lives.

OUR Local Efforts

We are so proud to continue the legacy of service at Kappa Chi chapter! Here is how we are making an impact in our community:In the past year, we raised over $4,300 for the AOII Foundation’s Arthritis Fund through our philanthropic efforts! Because of this, we were recognized at our fraternity’s National Convention in 2025 and we received the Excellence in Fundraising award from the AOII Foundation! Our chapter hosts at least two staple philanthropy events each academic year. Go Blue Week, which is a week filled with programming and fundraising to support arthritis awareness and research, takes place in the fall, and a Strike Out Arthritis! (SOA) event, typically paired with a raffle fundraiser, takes place in the spring. In addition to our support of our fraternity’s partnership with the Arthritis Foundation, locally we participate in campus & community cleanups and events such as bingo night at a local nursing home. We have also donated stuffed panda bears to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office patrol division. The bears are kept in patrol units and handed out to children who are victims of crimes, or in emergency situations.
